qui et Achmon, unus Cecropum, qui una cum fratre Bassalô, nullo non in iuriarum genere in obvium quemque debacchabatur. Hisce mater erat Sennonis nomine, mulier fatidica, quae filios cavere iussit, ne quando in Melampygum inciderent. Evenit autem, ut Hercules aliquando sub arbore quadam dormiret, armis in eandem reclinatis. Accesserunt Cecropes fratres, et Herculem sub arbore dormientem ipsius armis aggredi tentârunt. At ille protinus insidias sentiens, correptos, ac vinctos de clavâ a tergo suspendit, leporum more, atque ad eum modum gestabat. Capitibus itaque pendentes deorsum demissis, posticum Herculis nigris pilis horridum, atque hispidum viderunt. Quapropter materni moniti memores, hâc de re inter se confabulantur. Quod simul ac audivit Hercules, cognomine delectatus, et in risum solutus, vinculis cos liberatos dimisit. Erasmus in proverbio, Ne in Melampygum incidas. Meminerunt huius fabulae Suidas et Nazianzenus.
